Music researcher, teacher, and creator intent on making the world of music enjoyable, clear, and open to all.
I am a skilled musicologist, educator, and creative professional who operates at the intersection of the music industry and academia. Driven by a passion for broadening the niche world of music to the greater population, I pair music theory and analytical thinking with a dedicated commitment to public communication and writing.
My background spans significant roles in digital media and academia. As a Sales Assistant and Digital Content Producer for Audacy Inc., I developed, researched, and published music journalism articles distributed on a national scale, while simultaneously coordinating client relationships and radio campaigns within major media markets.
I recently served as a Teaching Associate and Graduate Assistant at San José State University, where I was the instructor of record for introductory music theory, beginner piano, and music appreciation undergraduate courses. My teaching philosophy is deeply informed by my background as an active jazz vocalist and former big band soloist.
Beyond the classroom, I have supported public scholarship as a Museum Docent for the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies, contributed to research projects on music education desegregation and racialization, and authored my Master’s thesis, "The Caged Canary: Compounded Discrimination and the Female Jazz Vocalist."
